HRmarketer lists the previous quarter's earnings from publicly traded HR and HR-related companies and all the M&A activity in the HR marketplace.
- Aon Corp. (AOC): Reported that its third- quarter profit fell 13 percent from last year on a substantial charge and rising expenses. Income for the quarter was $106 million, or 32 cents per share, down from $121 million, or 36 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue for the quarter was $2.17 billion, up 7 percent from $2.02 billion last year.
- Paychex Inc. (PAYX): Reported its first-quarter profit rose 17 percent on a 14 percent increase in revenue. For the quarter ended Aug. 31, Paychex earned $135.1 million, or 35 cents per share, up from $115 million, or 30 cents per share, in the 2006. Revenue grew to $459.4 million from $403.7 million in the year-ago period.
- Capital H Group, a rapidly expanding consulting firm headquartered in Chicago, has acquired Lambert & Associates, Inc., a Chicago-based diversity and inclusion consulting firm founded in 1986. Capital H Group, established three years ago, recently closed another round of private equity funding and is building a national consulting firm through acquisitions and organic growth to help companies create more value—through their people—for better business results.
- Ultimate Software (ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced its acquisition of R.T.I.X. Limited, a United Kingdom company, and its wholly owned subsidiary R.T.I.X. Americas, Inc. (RTIX). The acquisition of RTIX expands the performance management and competency-based talent management feature-sets that Ultimate Software can provide to midsized and large businesses in the United States and globally.

Why Jargon and SEO Don't Mix
We've become pretty savvy at HRmarketer.com when it comes to search engine optimization (SEO). In addition to our own first-page Google, Yahoo! and MSN rankings for the keywords important to us, we've helped many HR suppliers achieve the same success. We'd like to share some of our knowledge on the subject as it relates to "About Us" statements and SEO - what they have in common and why jargon has no place in either.
An effective "About Us" statement will answer the following questions in 3 - 5 sentences: Who are we? What do we do? Why is it important? Why are we unique? and Why are we credible? A well written "About Us" statement will be written in language everyone understands - "street speak." Social Networking Community for Human Resource Suppliers to Launch Soon! |

In January we'll be launching the industry’s first online social networking community specifically for companies that sell HR products and services. Building on previous features that share marketing expertise and media relations opportunities among its membership, the new community site will offer the following:
- Networking: Marketing professionals may confidentially approach other HR and employee benefit suppliers to discuss partnership opportunities, solicit feedback on the success of recent special events, promotional efforts, or direct mail lists, and any other topics they wish to initiate.
- Profile/Buyers Portal: HRmarketer members will be listed in an online buyer’s guide and may post information about their products, including links to supporting video, audio, PDF documents, white papers, etc., that will be marketed to HR professionals.
- Job Listings: HR suppliers may post and respond to marketing and public relations job opportunities within the human resource and employee benefit marketplace.
One unique aspect of the new HRmarketer.com community is the ability to confidentially pursue partnerships and other sensitive discussions with fellow HR suppliers in a private, spam-free environment. Members can engage in both one-on-one and private group communications via a secure online messaging system.
HRmarketer’s new community feature will be available free of charge to all existing HRmarketer.com members beginning in January 2007.
